In this approximately 182 square feet space, Chih Yu Chieh collaborated closely with the homeowners to understand their current and future living needs. Taking into consideration the active movement of the children, the design incorporated semi-opened partitions to create a diverse and adaptable space. By using space partition materials, the common areas achieved a sense of openness while still maintaining functionality.
The main materials used in the Light Impression design include solid wood, iron, marble, spray paint, glass, and solid wood flooring. The living space features a main wall made of log material, creating a simple and natural touch. The entrance design incorporates a grille screen, combining form and meaning, as well as the grains of the stones. This integration of natural elements adds a fresh and unique touch to the space.
The Light Impression design showcases a taste of nature that goes beyond standard wall planning. Through the combination of materials and design, a harmonious relationship is formed, reflecting the homeowners' ideal concept of home. The use of open vectors created by the extension of materials adds a sense of visual transparency and consistency, further enhancing the overall aesthetic.
Completed in March 2019 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, the Light Impression project took approximately five months to finish. Throughout the design process, Chih Yu Chieh focused on creating a space that perfectly combined living, nature, and the environment. The use of environmentally friendly materials and low formaldehyde solid wood contributed to the overall aesthetic and sustainability of the design.
The Light Impression design overcame several challenges, including the need for multi-functional spaces and the desire to bring more light into the corridor area. By incorporating sliding doors and thoughtful spatial planning, the design successfully addressed these challenges, creating a transparent and independent view when the doors are open and maintaining functionality when closed. The design also took into account the various living needs of the homeowners, including the inclusion of a study room and a playroom for the children.
The Light Impression design has been recognized for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that showcase strong technical and creative skills while contributing to quality of life improvements. The Light Impression design exemplifies these qualities, making it a truly remarkable addition to the world of residential design.
